For the category of excellent wines under 10 euros today I propose the white wine produced from Greco grapes by “Cantina di Filippo” located in Capaccio, province of Salerno.
This wine is called “Ponente” and is from the 2022 harvest. The vinification takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
Ponente has an excellent straw yellow color with greenish reflections, it is clear and sufficiently consistent.
The nose does not perceive a great intensity or persistence, however it is still possible to perceive herbaceous notes of thyme and sage as well as passion fruit.
On the palate it is dry, sufficiently warm, more savory than fresh and soft.
Instead, it is on the back of the nose that it releases its best and is both intense and persistent. In addition to herbaceous and passion fruit notes, there are peach, apricot and apple.
