The Guarnaccino of “600 Grotte” winery

At the Paestum Wine festival 2023 I have had the pleasure of meeting the new partner of the “600 Grotte” winery, namely Mariano Caricati, who took the place of Luigi Lauria, who now owns his own company, which bears the same name and for which I reviewed the white Guarnaccino.

The meeting with Mr. Mariano Caricati made me understand how much “600 Grotte” cares about sustainability. In fact, he chose to use a cork produced by the Ardea Seal company, which in addition to being made of recyclable materials can also be reused on other bottles.

The Guarnaccino I tasted is the red one from 2021.

The name chosen by the company on the label is the same as that of the vine and the wine is obtained after a 7-8 day maceration.

The color is ruby red with violet reflections, it is also clear and sufficiently consistent.

On the olfactory examination it is both intense and persistent. It turns out to be winy, fruity (notes of cherry and blackberry), herbaceous and balsamic.

It is a fine wine from an olfactory point of view.

On the palate it is dry, soft, sufficiently tannic, more fresh than savory.

The taste-olfactory examination is more intense than persistent. The cherry, blackberry, herbaceous and balsamic notes return.

Overall it is a coherent and balanced wine with great potential for the future, but still too young.
