Wineries In Campania

Scala Fenicia, a winery in Capri

The Scala Fenicia agricultural company, founded as a brand in 2010, but with a history that takes us back to 1800, is currently one of the very few wineries to entirely produce wine on the island of Capri. Its production technique is the perfect combination of nineteenth- century and modern tradition: it combines the nineteenth-century manual skill of harvesting the grapes and their transport in small characteristic baskets with a good oenological knowledge of the most modern techniques.

The most characteristic aspect of this winery is that a part of the vines lives in a close link with the lemon trees, growing in height, marrying with the poles of the characteristic Sorrento pergola, while the remaining part is kept in rows and pruned guyot. All their wines are produced from a blend of 40% Falanghina, 40% Greco of the variety known in the area as Chiunchese and 20% Biancolella. This percentage changes only for the last vintage, 2021, in which there is 50% Falanghina, 30% Greco and 20% Biancolella. The great added value of this winery, however, is how the maturation of their wines reaches perfection for many years. Their latest vintage, mentioned before, 2021 (because they refine for ayear in the bottle) has a greenish color and vividly crystalline. At the olfactory exam, there are herbaceous and unripe fruit notes. It appears to be coherent to the retro-olfactory and its freshness is pleasantly predominant.

The 2017 vintage is straw yellow with golden reflections and clear

At the olfactory exam, the perceived aromas are still of unripe fruit with the addition of broom. It appears to be consistent with the retro-olfactory aspect and its freshness is always predominant over the flavour.

The 2016 vintage is golden yellow and clear.

At the olfactory exam there are hints of pine, caramel, yellow fruit and honey.

It always maintains coherence to the retro-olfactory and is recognizable for its freshness.

The 2012 vintage is Neapolitan golden yellow. It is at a good point of maturation. At the olfactory exam, it is characterized by the aromas of candied orange, honey and caramel. It maintains coherence on the retro-olfactory side except for some greater hints of fruit jam. Always recognizable for its strong freshness, maintained despite the passing of the years
